  1. A war is an act of force, usually on behalf 
  2. of the state, intended to compel a declared 
  3. enemy to obey the will of the other. The aim 
  4. is to render the opponent incapable of 
  5. further resistance by destroying its 
  6. capability and will to bear arms in pursuit 
  7. of its own aims. War is therefore a 
  8. continuation of politics carried on with 
  9. violent and destructive means, as an 
  10. instrument of policy.
